Chances of winning a lottery is 0.01 %. I personally take the lottery to support kerala government and its offer job to poor people

As far as I know, the lottery draw in Kerala is done using the air mix lotto machine. I don't think there is any predictable pattern there. But what you can do is find all the previous lottery results (i guess you can download that from the official website) and using a script or ml or something, try to find the most common occurring numbers in different positions and some other patterns like that. Then try to take tickets that conforms to that pattern. Theoretically, atleast, you might have better odds.  


For example, for euromillions(or some other major lottery in Europe, i don't remember exactly), we have to choose 5 numbers which can range from 1-50. And somebody found out that you'll have better chance of winning if you choose the numbers such that the total sum of the chosen numbers are above 130. So yeah, you have to find some pattern like that to get atleast a marginal improvement in odds.

Lemme explain by telling about winning the smaller numbers(5k,1k,500,100 etc)

If you take a lottery of Rs.40/- chances of winning 5k is 18/9999 which is roughly 0.18 percentage
That is you have to take atleast 180 lotteries to win one(if you are lucky enough you'll get it on the first try but this is highly improbable.

For 1k it is 14/9999 which is 0.14 percentage
For 500 it is 154/9999 which is 1.54
percentage that is you need to get atleast 50 lotteries to win that prize

For 100 it is 258/9999 
Which is 2.58 percentage


Combined probability roughly estimate to 5% that is even to get the smaller numbers you need to buy atleast 20 tickets to atleast hope to win a 100 or 500 or lucky enough 5000

2) Buy the ticket 2 or 3 days before the winners are announced. Not earlier as tickets bought early has less chances of winning

3) Do not buy tickets from shops/agent from where a recent winner had bought the ticket

4) Try to buy tickets outside the town from rural places

There is no strategy, in fact the government’s “strategy” is to get you hooked on to it.

Not me,but a friend of mine won a BMW 520d back in 2012 when he booked a flat. However, he had to pay about 18 lakhs in gift tax, so he decided to sell the car and used the money to book another flat instead.

I was moving to NYC for my masters and since there was a lot of luggage, I used up all my miles (accumulated over 3 years on a traveling corp job) on emirates plus around Rs20,000 to get a biz class ticket (actual price 1.75 Lakhs) so that I could carry 60Kgs..

Feeling pretty good about the deal, I was enjoying the Biz Class lounge and as I was heading to the flight (late as usual) rushed to the smoking lounge to have a quick smoke before the 14hr flight. Couldn’t find my lighter and met an elderly gentleman smoking a cigar to whom I asked for a light. He said he would give me if I would sit with him and smoke the cigg. We ended up connecting pretty well and just before I was about to leave, he got up wished me all the best, gave me a hug and said your life is going to change starting now and blessed me.

I ran to the boarding gate and for all us flights there is special security checking (very very thorough) before you even enter the gate. As I submitted my boarding pass, the staff shoos me over to another counter and here I am filled with dread as I am already late and if they decide to go crazy with the cabin baggage security check there is a good chance I might miss the flight. 

As I reached the other counter, they take my boarding pass and I am getting ready to open luggage for the checking. The staff then utters the magical words (Sir.. you have been upgraded.. thank you for flying with emirates)

So yeah not a lottery per se but I flew the A380 first class (the one with a private cabin, Michelin star chef prepared meals, shower cubicles and private bar (18 yr old whiskeys, cognacs etc) area) to nyc (actual price Rs 7.5 lakhs) for a spend of Rs 20k

back in 2019, my dad purchased a house in uae and ended up losing about AED 500k (INR 1cr) on it while selling. we didnt have the money to repay the monthly amounts, this was partly due to unexpected downturn in the business.

In another case in the 90s one of my uncles won a Maruti Esteem in some contest at the Maruti dealership when he bought a Maruti 800. He kept both cars.

I’ve never been lucky in any sense in my life. I had to effin toil extra hard for every single penny I made. It’s frustrating at times to see how some people are lucky, either by themselves or through inherited wealth, and I’ve to toil day and night without any help, sympathy or luck.

I had a friend whose mom had a special talent – winning the lottery. Now, it wasn't the big bucks, mind you, just small wins of around 500 to 1000 rupees. Unpopular opinion but never felt any sympathy for healthy people standing on the side of the roads and flashing lottery tickets for lower class people to buy them. 
For disabled people- it should be the government taking care of them, not average citizens who buy lottery tickets from these people.

Out of curiosity I also started buying tickets for myself,( 'sthree shakti' lottery) whenever I bought tickets for him. So far I have won 500₹ -2000₹ . 500₹ twice and 2000₹ thrice. I don't buy often because I live in Bangalore.

The lottery is actually a legalised scam done by the government. Just calculate the average amount a person spends on it and his winnings . News channels and people are making it sensational. It's 28% GST before purchase and 50% gift tax after winning. The cost of printing a lottery paper will be in paisa's per lottery and they are selling it for 500 Rs per ticket. The actual winner is the government.

I have never won it, but my aunt has won over 4lakhs in 2001 I guess. But it was a complete waste for her. She decided to use that money for going pilgrimage across South India with her family. She faced a lot of financial problems after this. Everyone in my father's family scolded her for not using that money properly. Now her family faces lot of debt and her husband died unfortunately.

Not me but my neighbour won the bumper lottery while the price money was 2 Cr, about 10 years back.
He bought a plot and built a house, purchased another plot as well, kept some money for himself and gave 20 lakhs to each of his 3 kids.
He was pretty old back then and is still alive and kicking, well into his 90s.
People still come around from far off places looking for him to ask for funding treatments and marriages.

I have only taken lottery twice in my life (27F) but my mom and dad have taken it. Dad always get around 100,500,1000. This onam bumber he got 500( he is a retired NRI) he just takes it as fun. mom takes it as serious and not as frequently as dad..she have won better amounts that dad like in 2002 she won around 50k and recently 5k,10k type..she even won a mixy for a pachakakurip in vanitha..she have won many real life stuffs+ Lucky draw stuffs, unbelievable stories where she got in PSC test in first try(  she just put in all her hardword and got it with pure hardwork that too 26 years ago like she wanted a job and she got it in first try) I have seen her carefully choosing numbers and always if she take 5 lottery atleast she get some amount in return thats her inspiration to take it again. She calculates it well and idk how , she is always been very lucky and dad just go for dumb luck lol!

Now my case, personally rather than in real life situations..I have won quite few lucky draw stuffs like:

* a game set in balarama scratch and win
* the first ever Instagram given away I participated, I won
* a game show came to school, I was able to answer a question I won

But these types of luck never favoured in my REAL big stuffs But my mother is the one when it comes to LUCK!
